JD Edwards Disaster Recovery: Is Your Plan Ready – or Just Ready on Paper?

When did you last test your JD Edwards Disaster Recovery plan? There is a significant difference between a plan that has been documented and a plan that actually works under pressure.

Hemant Sharma is one of Ndevr’s JD Edwards CNC and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure specialists. In this recent podcast episode he drew on nearly two decades of real-world experience.

The Disaster You’re Not Prepared For

Most Disaster Recovery (DR) plans are written with a specific threat in mind: data centre failure, natural disaster, a major cloud outage. Those things happen. But in Hemant’s experience, the incidents most likely to take JD Edwards (or any other ERP system) down are far more mundane – a failed deployment, a botched patch, data corruption, an operational error that cascades through the system before anyone understands what’s gone wrong.

This shapes what you really need to prepare for. A plan designed around physical catastrophe will not help you when a patching error corrupts your database on a Tuesday afternoon.

And if your ERP system goes down, be it JD Edwards or any other ERP, the business impact is immediate: transactions stop, integrations stop, the order-to-cash process halts. Financial close gets delayed. Payroll runs are missed, this is not an IT problem, this is a business problem.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1783388219319{margin-right: 15px !important;margin-bottom: 15px !important;border-top-width: 6px !important;padding-right: 15px !important;padding-left: 15px !important;background-color: #d6d0d9 !important;border-top-style: solid !important;border-radius: 10px !important;border-color: #8F3C6C !important;}”][vc_column_text css=””]

Is Your JD Edwards Disaster Recovery Plan Actually Ready?

Whether you’re a CIO trying to stress-test your current position, a JD Edwards technical lead who owns the recovery plan, or a business stakeholder who’s been told “we’re covered” – this conversation is one you need to hear.
