JD Edwards Tools Release 9.2.3.4. Whats In It For Me?

The latest applications and tools (JDE tools 9.2.3.4) release of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne recognises the importance that Orchestrator plays in enabling customers to get more from their ERP, and how extensively it is used to bring in data from IoT devices.

So you might be asking yourself: What does the latest update mean for me? Below we’ve tried to explain each of the updates of the latest release in plain English, without Oracle’s marketing speak attached, and give you a quick example of why it might mean something to you. Firstly, Oracle are delivering on their promise to continue investing in ways to reduce the cost and effort involved in managing JDE. If you were on JD Edwards 9.2, and using our Continuously Code Current JD Edwards Service, you’d be pretty pleased with this release.

Automate All the Things

The improved support for Server Manager Services means that end users (you) can now leverage your Orchestrator skills to automate common admin activities without the need for additional scripting., because the functionality of Orchestrator has been extended to invoke REST calls to the server manager console.

Closed Loop Orchestration from E1 Forms

They’ve improved on a capability introduced in the last release – where Oracle introduced the ability to launch orchestrations from E1 forms….now you can map the return values captured from other JDE Applications, using the orchestration, back to the form controls….this does away with the manual tasks you would otherwise have to get someone to do….improving accuracy and saving oodles of time for someone.

A good working example of this is with sales order entry. The orchestration is executed to create a delivery from a shipping company and is now able to return the tracking number back to the sales order.

Sys-Admins Shown Some Love

They’ve also simplified the diagnostics by providing your system administrator with a new option to “Collect & Generate Diagnostics” to help them when they’re dealing with service requests.

At the applications level, there are other significant enhancements across the Manufacturing, HCM, Financials and Order Management applications…..

Financials

Now you can choose whether (or not) you want to send out invoices with line items for which there is a $0 amount. Handy for those of you with customers who don’t want to see line after line after line of all the freebies and bonus services you’ve given them. It also doesn’t appear on the A/R report.

There is also now the option to include all the gritty details on an invoice print report, such as payment terms, sales order details, and tax rate explanation.

HCM

Manufacturing

The update to the work order activity rules for Manufacturing now means that your system administrator can decide what process flow and rate schedules will be enforced by your system. This means that your sys-admin decides who can reopen already processed work orders and what they can add to those work orders. This stops errors and data integrity issues created when staff add things to a work order after its been processed.

There is also now the addition of a change history audit record for the Bill Of Materials.

Order Management

There is now auto-entry of the scheduled pick-date for an order, which is based on your supply and demand levels. This is designed to improve your customers experience.

Last but not least is the certification updates to:
